I am having trouble keeping fingernail polish on my nails. They are thin & chip. Any ideas on what to do?

Doing two to three coats of polish will always make it last longer. Follow these steps for a long lasting polish:

1. Apply one thin coat of polish to each nail in your desired color. Put the first stroke in the middle, then do each side of the nail.

2. Let dry, then apply another coat.

3. This could be enough, but, if the coverage isn't really that great, three might be neccesary.

4. Apply a coat of clear polish over the colored polish on each nail.

5. Let air dry, blowing on them just dulls the shine.

6. If polish gets on your skin on the sides of your nails, let it dry, then dip a q-tip in polish remover and gentle wipe away the mess-up.

i hope that these tips help you achieve a long lasting, shiny nail polish just as they have for me :)I am having trouble keeping fingernail polish on my nails. They are thin %26amp; chip. Any ideas on what to do?
every time you put on nail polish, put on a base coat %26amp; top coat. the base protects your actual nails, the top coat protects the polish. Make sure when your painting that you wipe the brush on the edge of the bottle so you don't get too much polish. Shake the nail polish before you use it, and roll it sideways in your hand. If you want to go all out, get a mini fridge, or have a special section in your fridge to keep your polish. If thats too extreme, keep it in a cool dark place, or a room temp. place, with not a whole lot of sun. some is okay. have you ever seen nail cubes? they are a rectangular cube that helps you buff your nails and things like that. use this before you polish, I recommend miss manicure. also, if you super desperate, make sure your getting lots of vitamin e, or take fish oil pills, possibly omega 3. This will help your nails strengthen and grow, which will help keep polish on and help your nails (and hair) in the long run. When you want to paint, wipe the access off the brush, make a stroke down the middle of the nail, then one stroke on each side, if necessary. I learned the hard way that if you don't do a super thin coat, and you use a different technique, its a recipie for disaster. also, wait until the first coat TOTTALLY dries until you do a second coat, if necessary. check out beauty stores too. some carry ';no chip polish shields.'; its like a heavy duty top coat. thats about all you can do.I am having trouble keeping fingernail polish on my nails. 1. Start with a base coat. Let it dry.

2. Put on first coat of your color and let dry.

3. If desired, put on second coat of your color and let dry.

4. Put on top coat.

There are lots of great blogs on nailpolish that include advice and are fun to read. Check them out!
you should do a base clear coat more than one coat(multiple, 3 or 4 mayb) of your color and then a top clear coat. if that is still thin and chips alot, then mayb you should get a better quality nail polish
I think you're using cheap nail polish that aren't very good quality. Otherwise just do 1 coat, wait till it dries, do another coat, wait till that one dries and then do another coat :)
