Nail ideas?

Anyone have any ideas for nails for a winter formal dance? i want something more unique than just a french manicure but along the lines of that. Is there any major harm in getting acrylics? am i better off with just a manicure? Please and thanks =]Nail ideas?
You could always do an up-dated French Manicure. Let's say that for this dance, your dress is Blue. You could have your nails done in french manicure style, but instead of a pink base with white tips, you could do a white base with blue tips. Or reverse it, and do a blue base with white tips.





The sparkle idea is good too, but I know a lot of girls tend to go that route for formal dances too.

Here's a good idea that's festive and you can any color schemes you'd like. This 'treatment' will give you a marble look to your polish:





1. Paint your nails a base color.


2. Put a blob of some cheap conditioner (I use V05) onto a plate/napkin


3. Pour some nailpolish (I would use 2 colors) on the conditioner in lines, use a tooth pick to swirl around the polish. Just don't mix it all together- you should be able to see lines of color


4. Dip your nails into the conditioner/polish mix. Be sure to dip from different areas so you get a variety of looks


5. Let the polish dry and wash off the excess conditioner. The nail polish swirls will stay, and you're left with a marble look!





You might want to practice beforehand. I'd recommend keeping natural nails because it's healthier and it takes a lot of $$$ to maintain acrylics.

I think that you should do the French Mani and Pedi but put dimonds or a baby blue snowflake on your thumb nail.Thats what I would do!
acrylics are basically harmless, if you take them off yourself, it can leave your nails in need of repair, but it doesn't take too long for them to get back to normal....i think some acrylics would be great, not too long though....they can do them similar to french manicure, but airbrush a pretty design on them with white.....it's subtle, but it looks really nice
I'd get a light blue, and put silver glitter over top so that it's kind of like an icy snowflake.
